With four sold-out performances over two nights, audience feedback from the 2021 Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival is overwhelmingly positive. "It means so much to all of on the stage that you joined us in this extraordinary venue tonight," said Artistic Director Paul Watkins, "the audience plays a vital role in live chamber music and we are thrilled to be back."

Anticipation is building as the world’s most celebrated artists converge on Detroit. The 2021 Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival opens tomorrow. The tent is decorated; the stage and chairs are set; final rehearsals are taking place and the piano tuner is onsite. Excitement is high as we prepare to gather as friends for the return of in-person chamber music. We can’t wait to see you tomorrow for opening night!

Detroit Chamber Wind & Strings hosts its first Str

Detroit Chamber Wind & Strings hosts its first Structurally Sound concert of the season this Friday. This virtual event provides an exclusive tour of the Motown Mansion led by current owner Alan Brown. The concert, curated by bassoonist Jeff Lyman, features classical music inspired by the architecture of the home. If you aren't able to make it Friday night, your ticket assures you access to watch the performance at your leisure until June 30.

You may submit an absentee bid on the two auction lots even if you are not able to attend the Gala:

(both at mutually agreeable date, time and place)

To place an absentee bid, email kunert@art-ops.org with your name, preferred email, maximum bid and the artist on which you are bidding.

The deadline for absentee bids is May 6 at 5 p.m.

Mark your calendars! The Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival is thrilled to announce the 2021 Festival. For the first time, we will host two Festivals over the summer. From June 13-20, join us for five in-person outdoor concerts at Temple Beth El. Then our Virtual Festival will take place July 10-24, offering audiences the opportunity to see recordings of our live events, glimpses at our community projects and original content. Pianist Yasuko Oura has been praised for her sensibility and passion for collaboration. In addition to being an avid musician, she is also an in demand teacher, both as a piano instructor and a vocal coach.

Four-time Grammy Award-winning cellist Nick Photin

Four-time Grammy Award-winning cellist Nick Photinos is described as a “commanding soloist” (ClevelandClassical.com) whose “virtuoso cello playing is scintillating” (Chicago Classical Review). During Photinos’ 24-year tenure as the founding cellist and co-Artistic Director of Eighth Blackbird, he performed over 1000 concerts and premiered hundreds of new works.
